Alex D Aguilar Silva

 I'm Alex Daniel Aguilar Silva, I'm a painter and collage artist. I was born in Council Bluffs Iowa but have strong connection to my parents hometown of Huipana Michoacán Mexico.

 Being brought up mainly in a primarily white town in the U.S I always felt like it was a struggle to keep up with my Mexican culture. Whenever I would go to Mexico I would relish in the culture that I was deprived from in the U.S, learning about what stories were told and what festivals were held in my absence from my local cousins. 

Now grown, Ive kept the stories and the spirit of these celebrations near to my heart and are a major inspiration in my work, no matter what medium it is.
